Best Blinds to use in an Investment Property

We often get asked what the best type of blinds are to use in investment properties. It’s an important decision with a few key factors involved. So we’ve decided to break it down and provide our top three recommendations.

Roller Blinds

It’s hard to go past roller blinds for bedrooms in rental properties. A) they are one of the most economical types of blinds on the market, B) they look good, C) they are durable, and D) they are easy to clean.

Vertical Blinds

For sliding doors vertical blinds are our most popular choice in rental properties. They are the most practical choice for sliding doors. They are also one of the cheapest options, are long lasting, easy to clean and look stylish.

Venetian Blinds

Lastly, we also recommend considering venetian blinds for investment properties. When considering cost, durability, cleaning and maintenance they are a great option.

Faux wood options in particular make sense as they are cheaper than wood venetian blinds and cleaning them is super easy.

Most of our investor clients and property managers that we work with choose roller blinds, vertical blinds or venetian blinds for these reasons.

Awning Styles

Living in Wollongong we are blessed with beautiful Illawarra weather most of the year round. However, as much as we love enjoying the outdoors, the sun’s rays can cause serious damage to our skin and property. High wind and heavy rain can use make outdoor areas off limits.

So if you are wanting to spend time in your outdoor areas, regardless of the weather, then outdoor awnings and blinds are a great solution. They can offer heat, glare, UV, wind and rain protection, as well as increase the privacy in your home.

Not sure what types of awnings and outdoor blinds are available and would suit your home? Read on to find out more about the most popular types that we supply and install.

A range of fabric types and colours are available for each, along with motorisation and sun/wind sensors.

Folding Arm Awnings

Folding arm awnings, also known as retractable awnings, are an economical and easy way to create more usable space in your outdoor areas. Ideally suited for large spaces folding arm awnings are a great choice for ground floor windows, patios, decks and terraces. With its fold-away mechanism and angle adjustment feature, folding arm awnings are a practical choice.

Pivot arm awnings are designed for verandas, doors and upper floor windows that require frequent and easy access. As the awning is projected away from the building, they are great for circulating airflow as well as reducing sunlight exposure.

Side Channel Awnings

Side channel awnings are a cost effective and practical choice of awnings. They provide excellent protection from the elements and use side channels to hold the awning in place. This channel design prevents light from entering through the sides, so they are a great choice for blocking light.

Curtain Trends – 2024

Our clients often ask us what the current trends are when it comes to curtains in homes, so we have put together a list of the trends for the current year that we are seeing to help you with your home interior design decisions.

Sheers

Sheer curtains have been popular for some time now, and we see that trend continuing for a while. Here at Oceanic Blinds they also happen to be a staff favourite.

Sheers enable you to retain privacy while still letting filtered daylight through into a room. Sheer curtains create a floaty, elegant ambience and can dress up any room. They provide softness, texture and movement, and just look wonderful!

Commonly used in bedrooms and living areas, sheer curtains are currently a popular choice in both modern and traditional homes.

Eco Fabrics

More and more people are choosing interior design products with environmental factors in mind.

Oceanic Blinds provides curtains in sustainable fabrics such as bamboo, that not only look great and provide privacy, but have a lower environmental impact than other curtain materials.

Automation

The automation space for window coverings is growing quickly with the rise of “smart homes”, and one of the top curtain trends in 2024 is the use of technology to enable curtains to be opened and closed with the touch of a button or voice command.

Options exist for battery powered or hard-wired systems.

Minimalism

Over recent years minimalist window styling has really taken off, with a trend towards clean, straight lines and single (and often neutral) colours.

Minimalist curtains can look stunning, while providing the required privacy and light filtering considerations in a home or business.

Layering

Layering curtains (or curtains and blinds) across a window provides both functional and aesthetic benefits.

Using sheer curtains alongside say a roller or panel glide blind or thicker drape enables you to control how much light and privacy you let into a room as well as the giving you multiple styles to choose from in your room.

Layering is often chosen in homes where the client wants the light blocking benefits of a blind or drape, as well as the aesthetic benefits of a sheer curtain.
